Arlington runs to ramblers, split-levels and newer starter subdivisions, and the math lands in about the same place across all three. Waterfall or cap-and-band, stairs run $18 a step and a straight flight usually finishes between $235 and $400 with the carpet you pick. Any landing or pie-shaped winder is measured at the visit and priced inside the written quote, never bolted on later.

The barrier pad runs $0.65 per square foot and up, and pet-focused samples ride along on every visit.

Pad first, since that's the piece people miss: some mills void coverage when their carpet sits on the wrong grade of pad, which is why all three ride along in the van. It comes up most on Smokey Point starter homes still running their original builder pad.
