“The installers were great! The floor is exactly what we wanted. They also did the stairs, which were carpet. We worked with OC Flooring previously — they refinished our red oak. Highly recommend!”

“They refinished over 300 sq ft of maple flooring that was 15 years old — the floors look as good or better than new!! They placed plastic sheeting over the cabinets to contain the dust, so we noticed hardly any. Would definitely recommend.”

Wood wall panels & acoustic panels: FAQs

What types of wood wall panels do you offer?

Slat acoustic panels, flat paneling, and custom millwork.

We install wood slat acoustic panels, flat wood or painted paneling, and custom millwork for feature walls, media rooms, and offices. A real-wood veneer surface can sit over an MDF core; that is different from a solid-hardwood slat. Compare the face material, core, backing, and edge finish when choosing your panel.

Panel dimensions vary by collection. As a manufacturer example, WVH Slatpanel lists heights of 94.49 and 118.11 inches, with individual panels about 12.60 inches wide. These are sizing examples, not a statement of our stock. A 94.49-inch panel does not cover a full 96-inch wall without a planned trim or joint detail. We confirm the selected product’s exact dimensions, coverage, and availability before ordering.

Do acoustic wood slat panels really reduce echo?

They can reduce room echo; results depend on the complete installation.

Felt-backed acoustic panels can absorb sound and reduce reverberation in living rooms, offices, and media rooms. Coverage, panel construction, and mounting method affect performance. Some tested systems use battens and insulation behind the panels to improve absorption. Acoustic treatment is not the same as soundproofing between rooms; use the selected assembly’s test data to assess performance.

Can you install panels on uneven or textured walls?

Yes, after preparing a flat, secure mounting surface.

We assess the wall and use shims or furring strips where needed to create a flat substrate. For compatible felt-backed panels, screws pass through the felt into suitable studs or securely fixed furring; fastener type, spacing, and length follow the panel manufacturer’s instructions. Color-matched screw heads help them blend into the backing.

Construction adhesive is an option only where approved for the panel and wall surface. It is not a substitute for required mechanical fastening, and loose paint or heavy texture may need preparation before bonding.

How are the wood slat panels installed?

Careful layout, clean cuts, and fastening suited to the wall.

Installation starts with measurements, a plumb reference line, and a plan for panel joints, corners, and outlets. Suitable tools include a laser or spirit level, a stud finder, a fine-tooth track saw or guided circular saw for straight cuts, and a jigsaw for shaped cutouts. The tool and blade must suit the selected panel.

In older Seattle homes, floors and ceilings may slope, so the layout should follow a checked reference rather than assuming the baseboard is level. Cut edges, slat spacing, and any slats loosened by cutting are checked before the panels are secured.

Are the panels suitable for bathrooms or kitchens?

Only when the selected product is approved for the intended conditions.

Standard MDF-core or wood-veneer panels should not be assumed suitable for direct water, shower walls, or splash zones. A sealed finish does not make a panel waterproof. For humid rooms or kitchen locations, check the manufacturer’s limits for moisture, heat, and cleaning, and choose a purpose-designed alternative where needed.

How much do wood wall panels cost in Seattle?

Use $18–$45+ per square foot installed as a planning range.

Final pricing depends on the selected panel, wall area, acoustic backing, wall preparation, cuts, trim, and installation access. Painted or wrapped MDF slats are generally a lower-cost option; real-wood veneer over MDF provides a wood surface without solid-hardwood construction. Solid hardwood and custom millwork generally cost more, especially with specialty species or finishes.

There is no single MDF-to-hardwood price difference that applies to every project. Our free on-site estimate provides project-specific pricing so you can compare materials and labor on the same scope. Confirm whether trim removal, repairs, disposal, ceiling work, and lighting are included or priced separately.

For example, a 100-square-foot wall at $18–$45 per square foot calculates to $1,800–$4,500; premium materials or additional work can exceed that range. The $224 product listings above are not complete installed-wall prices. Confirm the package size, coverage, current price, and installation scope before ordering.

What’s the lead time for a feature wall?

Typically 1–3 weeks, subject to materials and scheduling.

Available panels can allow a shorter lead time. Custom sizes, special finishes, large areas, or additional preparation may take longer. We confirm product availability and the project schedule during the estimate; the lead time is separate from the time spent installing on site.

Do I need to prepare my walls before installation?

Clear the work area; wall preparation is confirmed in the project scope.

Move furniture and wall decorations away from the installation area. The wall needs to be sound, dry, clean, and suitably flat. Preparation may include removing loose material, cleaning the surface, repairing minor imperfections, and planning how panels meet existing baseboards and trim.

Baseboards do not always need removal. The chosen design and panel thickness determine whether trim stays, is removed and refitted, or is replaced. Confirm wall repairs, baseboard work, and disposal in the written estimate before installation. Any underlying moisture problem needs to be addressed first.

Can panels be installed on ceilings or around TVs?

Yes, with suitable panels, structural support, and access planning.

Ceiling installations need a manufacturer-approved fastening layout into suitable joists or securely fixed battens. We plan media walls around cables, outlets, and mounting locations. TV brackets must connect to appropriate structural backing rather than relying on decorative slats or felt to support the load. Keep required ventilation and service access clear.

Can you integrate LED lighting into the slat walls?

LED lighting can be planned into a compatible panel layout.

Discuss lighting before panels are ordered or installed. Depending on the system, LED strips can fit compatible aluminum channels with diffusers between slats, or use accessories designed for the panel. Channel size, slat spacing, heat management, dimming, and cable routing all need to work together.

Power supplies and drivers should remain accessible for service. Confirm who supplies the lighting and who handles wiring and final connections in the estimate. Electrical work should be handled by an appropriately licensed electrician; panel installation alone does not include electrical work unless it is expressly agreed.

Are the panels fire-rated?

Check the documentation for the exact panel and installation.

Fire performance varies by product. When a project requires a fire-rated finish, the selected panel and specified installation must have suitable supporting documentation. A fire-rated backer or an added coating does not automatically establish a rating for the complete panel assembly. Discuss the project requirements before selecting materials.

How do I maintain wood wall panels?

Dust gently and follow the finish manufacturer’s care instructions.

Use a dry microfiber cloth or a vacuum with a soft brush attachment. Avoid soaking the panels, abrasive pads, and harsh cleaners. Use oils or conditioning products only when recommended for the specific finish; painted, laminated, and factory-finished surfaces can have different care requirements.

Can I install wood slat panels myself, or do I need a contractor?

A small, simple accent wall may suit an experienced DIYer.

DIY installation can be practical when the wall is sound and flat, the layout is straightforward, and you can follow the panel manufacturer’s instructions. Allow for accurate measuring, clean cuts, appropriate fixings, and careful handling of the panels.

Professional installation is useful for tall walls, ceilings, uneven surfaces, corners, and detailed cutouts around outlets, TVs, or lighting. These projects need more planning for support, alignment, and access. We can assess your wall and provide a free estimate for the installation scope.
