Sanding off the existing old finish
The next step in our hardwood floor refinishing process is the removal of the old, worn-out, and damaged finish. We use a combination of advanced sanding machines and various grits of sandpaper to expertly strip your flooring down to the bare wood. The choice of sandpaper grit is carefully selected based on the type of finish and the difficulty in removing it, ensuring a smooth and even surface ready for refinishing.
Detailed fine sanding and filler
After removing the old finish, rough grit sandpaper may leave some scratches on your hardwood floor. To achieve a smooth surface, our next step involves using progressively finer sandpaper grits, which meticulously smooth out the surface in preparation for the new finish. This careful sanding process eliminates remaining scratches, ensuring a flawless result. Additionally, we may employ trowel filling techniques to fill any gaps or imperfections, further enhancing the overall appearance and durability of your floor.
Finishing touches and clean up
Our refinishing process includes meticulous final touches done by hand. We use hand scrapers to reach difficult areas under radiators, along trim, and in corners where sanders can't reach. These spots are then carefully hand-sanded to ensure they match the final grit used by the sanding machines. Once hand scraping and sanding are complete, a thorough vacuuming and clean-up process is conducted to prepare the surface for the next step in refinishing.
